1950 IRIS LOVER'S CATALOG

COVER: The 1950 cover features the breakthrough color acheivement of Pinnacle, by the New Zealand hybridizer Jean Stevens.

ABOUT: The catalog introduces the floral arrangements of Carl Starker, from Jennings Lodge, Oregon. Also included was a Iris garden blueprint by Elmer Hallberg, from Hopkins, Minnesota. These diagrams appeared periodically in the 1950s Iris Lover's Catalog. On the back cover, was the unique symbol Schreiner's Daylilies and Iris. The incorpation of the word "Daylilies" stayed in effect until 1951. By the time 1952 came, it had been reverted back to simply Schreiner's Iris.

GREETING: GREETINGS to our friends and customers and to those of you receiving our catalog for the first time. We hope you had a great enjoyment from your Iris last blooming season and, like us, are now looking forward to "Iris Time" with an enthusiasm hard to restrain. Those, indeed, are golden days. In our 1950 catalog we present the Iris to gardeners in its infinite variety of colors and hues for your enjoyment. Truly the Poor Man's Orchid.
Our sincere thanks to you for your interesting letters and your generous patronage. May your garden at Iris time fulfill your fondest hopes.
