1951 IRIS LOVER'S CATALOG

COVER: This is one of the few catalogs that does not feature a Schreiner iris introduction. Rather, it features the New Zealand introduction of ROYAL SOVEREIGN by Jean Stevens.

ABOUT: The size of the catalog has changed since 1949. The change might taken place in 1950, but definitely this year, as catalogs are now 8.5" X 11".

GREETING: GREETINGS to our friends and customers. It is our sincere hope that this catalog will give you some idea of the boundless beauty one can enjoy raising Iris. A newly opened bloom with the droplets of dew still upon it certainly gives soul satisfaction and greater appreciation for one of the splendors of nature.
Distances made it impossible for us to show all of you the glory of the Iris in person. The next best thing we can do is show color illustrations as accurate to nature as the engraver's art is able to achieve. We feel that it is never quite possible to capture the sheen and feeling of life that the flower itself has.
We are particularly proud of the many fine new Iris we offer. Hybridizing is extremely fascinating. From our yearly crop of around 20,000 seedlings we have selected a number of varieties we consider significant developments.
For beauty and relaxation we suggest Iris. Easy to grow, beautifully colored, fascinating to study. We feel our enthusiasm for the flower will be shared by you.
Our appreciation and sincere thanks for your generous support and intersting letters. We appreciate them all. May "Iris Time" this year be a source of ever greater thrills.
