ABOUT: This is a typical catalog where it's type ran until the mid-70s. Irises were listed alphabetically, followed by their description with pictures scattered throughout the catalog. The font style consisted of the variety names in a sans-serif, all-caps font. The description was then slightly smaller in a serif-type font. They would use this format for many decades, perhaps until the 1985, but definitely by 1987, where the blue color was used for the names. Unique in this catalog is the greeting, where it's in a tiny print on a reduced Schreiner's letterhead with Robert Schreiner's actual signature.

     Each year as the months pass by we receive hundreds of letters from you telling us of your pleasure and satisfaction with our iris. We appreciate and enjoy them immenseley and only regret that it is impossible to answer each and every one. This year we introduce our 40th annual Iris Lover's Catalog. We would like to make this an open letter to all of you to write us and let us know how you have liked our iris that you have been growing over the years. We like to hear from you all.
