COVER: This cover features the 1977 Introductions: Lacy Snowflake, Superstition and Windsor Rose. In the background is the photograph "Iris Time at Schreiner's," which has been used as a backdrop in every Iris Lover's catalog from 1964 to the mid-1980s.

ABOUT: Schreiner's begins to introduce a system similar to their current "Red Star Quantity Discount" offer. They have selected four of the introductions as "bonus" irises and in order to receive them, you had to choose specific irises from a list. For every $25 worth of Irises you purchase from their list, you receive one of their bonus iris. Unlike their current system, there was no 50% off discount. You paid the price listed in the list. Their introductions for this year have done very well. Many of them are quite popular today, with Victoria Falls, winning the Dykes Medal in 1977.

     Also new in this catalog, is their introduction to selling Spuria and Siberian irises, which would last until the mid 1980s. The size of the catalog also grew, now being a bit taller at 8.5" X 11.63", than the previous 8.5" X 11"

     The 18th Century in musical history is often called the "Age of Elegance" because of its rhythmic masterpieces. In the Iris world, as our country embarks on its third centure of progress, we look forward to the very real promise of an elegance in the Iris that will surpass prior achievements. What a spectacular road has been traversed from the days of great grandmother's "flags" to the bright banners of elegant style now present in our gardens. What exciting new achievements lie just around the corner? How exhiliarating!
     When planting a new Iris, we often dream ahead to the beauty that will unfurl next year from this drab rhizome. A true wonder of nature! It is our pleasure to share such delightful experiences our Iris fancier friends. Without your expression of confidence in our pursuit of the quest of Iris, our efforts would not meet with success.
