COVER: This cover features the 1979 Introductions: Clansman, Storm Center and Tut's Gold. In the background is the photograph "Iris Time at Schreiner's," which has been used as a backdrop in every Iris Lover's catalog from 1964 to the mid-1980s.
ABOUT: Typical 1970s/1980s catalog, although begin to use a blue color font for their new introductions.
GREETING: As we enter our fifty-fourth year of serving our many gardening friends, we cannot suppress the feelings of pride and satisfaction which come from knowing that Schreiner's Iris have made friends in every state of the Union save Florida and Hawaii (due to unsuitable climatic conditions not to the like of this hardy perennial). We also welcome our many patrons in far away places such as: Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Canada, Czechoslovakia, Denmark, England, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Korea, Mexico, New Zealand, Poland, Spain, Switzerland and the USSR. These same friends, who have all grown our Iris, almost invariably have become our most valued goodwill ambassadors. Gratefully we offer you a grand MERCI.
A beautiful garden is a joy forever. It was no accident that God created paradise in the Garden of Eden. A gardener who tends his greenery shares and spreads his joy adding happiness to others as well as himslef. May your 1979 gardening season bring forth a real earthly paradise!
