INTERESTING INFO: Crater Lake, located in Oregon, is widely known for its intense blue color and spectacular views. It is the deepest lake found in the United States and ranks as the seventh deepest in the world. Crater Lake was created by the eruption and collapse of Mt. Mazama almost 7,000 years ago. Crater Lake is isolated from surrounding streams and rivers by the high sides of the caldera, so there are no inlets or outlets to the lake. Crater Lake is filled with rain and melted snow that fell within the caldera basin. It took approximately two-hundred-fifty years for the lake to fill to its current level.

Although hybridized by Schreiner's, this cultivar was introduced by the rose company Jackson & Perkins.
