DESCRIPTION: S. rich purple, centers lightly feathered white at midrib; F. white ground with heavy purple plicata border, upper half of plicata border stained dark maroon. Sporadic purple peppering eminating from border; golden orange beards.

INTERESTING INFO: From the 1934 Schreiner Iris Lover's Catalog: Heliane, with very deep edging, almost a solid bordering is quite novel and heavily marked; the flower is a bit too elongated but in spite of this is most distinctive.

NOTE: The name tag in the photo is incorrect. Heliane was hybridized by Millet et Fils Garden in France, not by Syndey Mitchell.
