INTERSTING INFO: From the 1957 Schreiner's Iris Lover's Catalog: Some engravings are so accurate, so grippingly real and glowing, that a description seems almost superfluous; but this engraving fall so far short of reality that I despair of arousing the enthusiasm that this magnificient Iris deserves. Believe me, King's Choice is a the richest, deepest midnight blue we have ever seen. A larger, deeper much glorifed Gulf Stream, its substance is not thin, as in the engraving, but so heavy as to be definitely leathery. A true self of clean, rich (not dusty) coloring with a heavy silken sheen. A superb Iris of great dignity that sometimes surprises by outstanding autumn blooms - but don't count on them! One of the top introductions of 1957.
