INTERESTING INFO:
From the 1978 Schreiner’s Iris Lover's Catalog: This stunning variety will startle you indeed! It immediately draws your attention with its tall, erect stature and its lighthouse-like luminous big red beard; all this plus the copiously formed, fully broad petals – lacy white and satin smooth. Here we have one of the most attractive whites with a red beard that we have grown or been acquainted with from fellow hybridizers. This sparkling white gem also has more of a ruffling and fluting effect than others in its class. Its extraordinary stems which sport four branches of 8 to 10 buds similarly mark this as a winner. A choice selection and real addition to the red bearded whites!

Webmaster Note: It is very easy for this Iris to be confused with its much more popular parent CHRISTMAS TIME. Startler has much more cleaner hafts than Christmas Time, which has more of the yellow influence on its shoulders. Startler is also "whiter" when directly comparaed to Christmas Time.
