INTERESTING INFO: From the 1977 Schreiner’s Iris Lovers Catalog: The power of blue water thundering into a chasm precisely captures the mood of this impeccably fresh light blue self. In the center of each fall is a “signal patch” of white, highlighting the flower’s white beard. Its ruffled petals seem to cascade at random, creating a pattern that immediately attracts one’s attention. The stem habit of this variety presents us with an entirely new dimension. In addition to the usual 3 main branches and a spur, the lowest branch often has another spur bud. Thereby surpassing all other multibudded Iris – our new 14 budded blue!
This cultivar is probably named after Victoria Falls, a waterfall along the Zambezi River, bordering the countries Zambia and Zimbabwe in Africa.
